A few weeks ago we reviewed Bum Genius diapers. One comment suggested trying “Kissaluvs Marvel One Size All in One”. Although I have not used these, we do have another brand of reusable diapers. While shopping for baby clothes two months ago I purchased two Happy Heinys diapers for $20 each at The Green Monkey on Old South Pearl in Denver.
Between the Bum Genius and the two Happy Heinys diapers we have a dozen and a half reusable diapers that last two and a half days. The Happy Heinys are nice because they can be thrown in the dryer and are ready nearly instantaneously. However, this is one of the brand’s few redeeming qualities. As mentioned in the Bum Genius diaper post, the benefits of reusable diapers are manifold. Yet the Happy Heinys lack the absorbency of Bum Genius. They often leak through my son’s outfits, requiring a change of clothes.
They do alleviate the major concern I mentioned with the Bum Genius. The extra wide Velcro strip and stays enable the band to be fastened during washing, thereby preventing the diapers from sticking to other objects in the wash. However, not all the Bum Genius suffer from the faulty Velcro. Despite the ability to dry the Happy Heinys in the dry and the sturdy Velcro, they have not matched up to the effectiveness of the Bum Genius brand.
