For 20 years now, Green Drinks has been bringing together like-minded individuals to discuss the second green revolution. According to their website, “Every month people who work in the environmental field meet up at informal sessions.” These include “people from NGOs, academia, government and business” as part of their consortium.
Staged in countries from Algeria to Vietnam and U.S. cities from New York to Seattle, Green Drinks offers a networking opportunity for those people involved in living sustainably.
These events are very simple and unstructured, but many people have found employment, made friends, developed new ideas, done deals and had moments of serendipity. Last night 2nd Green Revolution attended Green Drinks in Denver, Colorado. At the monthly get together architects, designers, and green economy neophytes shared visions of a sustainable future. Brought together by the power of the internet, one of the main modes of communication and dissemination of Green Drinks meetings comes via social networks, which play a vital role in outreach. As with many other Green Drinks chapters, Denver maintains a Facebook presence. In addition, other social networking sites like Ning, have been instrumental in bringing together these crowds. As Green Drinks and other events connect members of the green economy, the opportunity to leverage their collective intellect in order to conquer today’s most pressing concerns becomes that more powerful.
