One of the most intriguing presentations will be on Thursday. The National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) in Golden, Colorado will host a panel discussion about their new structure, titled, “Vying For Net-Zero – The NREL Research Support Facility Design-Build.” NREL “is in the process of building one the most energy efficient buildings in the world. [Their] Research Support Facility (RSF) . . . will consume only 33% of the energy of similar building[s] in existence today and only 50% of the energy of buildings built to current code. With the addition of on-site renewable energy, the building could approach net zero energy.” Completion of the project is expected by next year.
The general public may also benefit from the trade show exhibits, which will cover a range of topics from alternative energy to home products. For those interested in contacting heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) companies or finding low-volatile organic compound (VOC) paint, exhibitors will have booths set up in the main hall. As mentioned earlier admission is free, although registration is recommended. Click here for information on Sustainability expos in your area. (Included are shows in Anaheim, CA; Santa Clara, CA, Portland, OR, Glendale, AZ and Houston, TX).
