What ever happened to EEStor and the “wonder battery”? January 25th, 2009
EEStor, the stealth start-up from Texas, got some publicity in 2008 by claiming to have vastly improved the electric battery. The company, backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, signed a contract with defense contractor Lockheed-Martin late last year. They also have an agreement with ZENN Motors of Canada to provide a battery for their plug-in cars. Rumor has it that a car with the EEStor battery can run for 250 miles after a 5 minute charge. Seems to good to be true. If it is true, it is revolutionary. Does anyone have new information on the progress towards a “wonder battery” for mass production?
